Road to Discovery

The Road to Discovery is a winding path. There’s a theme across the HitchBilly site of Wandering but not Wondering and this is reiterated in my author biography as well. Some might take an outward glance at my life and say that it was a Road to Recovery. While this may portray some of the picture, looking at the overall perspective, the term Road to Discovery would be a more accurate portrayal.

Key notes

  • What powers your drivetrain?
  • Refueling your gas isn’t enough – Top off the oil, brake fluid, windshield wipers too
  • Setting the GPS to your destination

What powers your drivetrain?

In keeping with the winding road theme, let’s look at life as a road trip. This road to discovery needs a vessel to travel it and that vessel is ourselves. So how do we power ourselves? This seems like a simple question when we’re comparing ourselves to a vehicle. We simply stop at the gas station, swipe our card, select the octane and fill up our tank. Similar to a vehicle that can be filled with different octanes, unleaded or diesel, or even powered by electricity; we are each in ourselves powered by something different and unique. There is no cookie cutter fuel that drives each of us.

Topping off the other fluids

When going on a road trip, fuel is important to get there. When comparing your road to discovery with life, you need to identify your main source of fuel but there are many other types of fluids that keep us on the right track as well.

Setting the GPS

We’ve talked a lot of fuel, fluids, and support but these only get you moving. The road to discovery is as much about the destination, having the tools to get there, but also creating the plan and taking the right turns.
